In order to transfer a German driving licence into a Hong Kong driving licence, the “Transport Departement” requests a translation.

Please apply for the translation at the Consulate General by making an appointment online.

The process takes 1 to 3 working days. The original driving licence has to be handed in for that period but will be handed back together with the translation.

The translation costs approx. 250 HKD (depending on the exchange rate). Please have that amount at hand when applying for the translation.
